AMD Signals Microsoft Could Launch Its Next Generation Xbox in 2027
New clues emerge around the next Xbox timeline
AMD has provided a notable signal that Microsoft’s next generation Xbox console could arrive sooner than previously expected. During an earnings call, AMD chief executive Lisa Su said development of Microsoft’s next Xbox, built around a semi custom AMD system on a chip, is progressing well and is aligned to support a potential launch in 2027.
The comment stops short of confirming a release date, but it makes clear that AMD is technologically and operationally prepared should Microsoft decide to bring its next console to market that year.
A deepening strategic partnership with AMD
Microsoft confirmed last year that it is working closely with AMD on its next generation Xbox hardware. The two companies entered a multi year strategic partnership that goes beyond a single console and covers a broader portfolio of devices.
This collaboration includes co engineering silicon not only for traditional living room consoles, but also for handheld hardware and the next generation of Xbox Cloud Gaming servers. The partnership reflects Microsoft’s ambition to unify its hardware and cloud strategy under a common technological foundation.
Moving toward a console and PC hybrid model
